Antique Mirror Investigation
In 1964, an expecting Ed and Lorraine Warren investigate a haunting involving an antique mirror. Lorraine has a terrifying vision of an entity and her unborn child before collapsing and going into labor.
Judy’s Miraculous Birth
Ed rushes Lorraine to the hospital; their baby is stillborn. However, Lorraine’s prayers revive the baby, whom they name Judy.
The Smurls Move In
Twenty-two years later, the Smurl family moves to West Pittston, Pennsylvania. Jack and Janet share the house with Jack’s parents and their daughters.
The Gifted Mirror
For Heather’s confirmation, John gifts her the same antique mirror. During dinner, a ceiling light crashes down, narrowly missing her — the first sign of the haunting.
The Warrens Retire
Due to Ed’s heart condition, the Warrens retire from investigations but continue giving sparsely attended lectures. Judy begins to experience psychic visions.
The Smurl Haunting Intensifies
Dawn and Heather try to dispose of the mirror, but the family continues to be terrorized by three entities — an old woman, a young woman, and a man wielding an axe.
Father Gordon’s Attempt to Help
Exhausted, the Smurls contact the press. Father Gordon learns of their case and seeks help from the Diocese of Scranton, but the demon induces him to commit suicide.
Judy’s Vision and Departure
At Father Gordon’s funeral, Judy sees a vision of his death. She secretly leaves for Pennsylvania to investigate, despite Lorraine’s warning vision.
The Warrens Join the Smurls
Ed, Lorraine, and Tony meet the Smurls. Lorraine discovers that the three spirits are being controlled by the same demon from the antique mirror.
Judy Possessed
The demon possesses Judy, attacks Lorraine, and causes Ed to collapse. Tony rescues Lorraine while Ed recovers and rushes to save their daughter.
Final Confrontation
In the attic, the possessed Judy tries to hang herself but is saved by Ed. Lorraine urges Judy to embrace her psychic power. Together, they destroy the mirror and banish the demon.
Epilogue: Peace Restored
The Smurls live peacefully for three more years. The mirror’s remains are stored in the Warrens’ occult museum.
Ending: Judy’s Wedding
Judy marries Tony, walking down the aisle with her father. That night, Ed and Lorraine embrace, looking forward to the peaceful life they always wanted.
